By the mid 1950s, the Democrats regained control of the Senate, and Robert Kennedy took charge of the Senate Committee on Investigations. He wanted to make up for the time McCarthy wasted hunting Communists, and the lackadaisical national approach to the mob. He also wanted to make a name for himself, and didn’t care who he alienated, even the unions. Some say he acted tough; others say he was tough. He could have picked easier targets. Mickey Cohen didn’t know it, but he was one of them.
