Near Death – A Jake Townsend Thriller For Jake Townsend, the loss was shattering. And every night for the past two years, he has relived the horror of what happened. The moonless night. The piercing screams. The horrific crash. The night his wife was taken from him. The last time he saw her alive. Everyone tells him to move on. But for Jake, there can be no closure. A message appears in his dreams—a warning he is reluctant to heed. The omens ignored, Jake finds himself caught between the desire to see his beloved wife again and disrupting the delicate balance of life and death. The technology he developed has shown him the path, and others will do anything to use it, but at what price? He must choose, and the consequences may ultimately shatter his world. Praise for Amazon best-selling author Richard C Hale and his debut novel Near Death: "NEAR DEATH is a fast-paced, romance-laced, thought-provoking, and highly entertaining novel with an intriguing premise." ~ Author Lisette Brodey "This is not a read you want to miss. Prepare to be enchanted and enthralled as Mr. Hale takes you on the thrill ride of your life." ~ Chuck Barrett, Award Winning Author of The Savannah Project and The Toymaker ~~~ Follow Richard on Twitter (@Richard_C_Hale) Interview With The Author Q – The premise for NEAR DEATH is a little unusual. How did you come up with the idea? A – I was perusing the Web, jumping from one link to another, when I landed on a page that had actual Near Death Experiences recounted by the people who experienced them. Very fascinating reading. I didn’t really think much more about it at that time and moved on after a little time there. About 2 days later, I was watching a show on real mind reading technology using M.R.I. medical equipment and a rudimentary set of words. Then “Click.” My brain made a connection and the story was born. Q – So, this technology exists? A – Not as sophisticated a system as Jake Townsend’s machine. But there have been some advances in the interpretation of electrical impulses emitted by the brain. I expect cell phones, cars, TVs, etc. will be able to “read” our minds in the very near future. Scary and cool. Q – Is this considered a paranormal book? A – It kind of blurs the lines. Which in some folks’ opinions is not a favorable thing to do for an author’s career. It has a little paranormal, a little creepiness, science fiction, action, and thriller all rolled into one fun package. I love all those genres, so why not write what I love? It worked for me and I know it appeals to others as well. Thank you for reading!
