We’ve all heard it. Abuse in relationships appears to be on the rise in America. In fact, however, no one knows if it’s on the rise or if people are just coming forth more often now and reporting such acts of violence. Note that domestic violence and rape are the least reported forms of abuse.
Abuse wears more than one face and isn’t easily recognizable. People tend to think the face of abuse comes in the form of physical bruises, abrasions, or contusions. Some think it looks like broken arms or legs or intestinal damage. Once in a great while it presents as a dead body. However, the most common face abuse wears is the mask of disapproval, disgust, or deception.
In this book we’re going to touch briefly on the resulting evidence of abuse, but mostly we’ll address the emotional side of things.
