The fire nearly destroyed their home. Orphaned, with a greedy family sniffing around the family fortunes, Lady Katherine Howland and her sister Anne are kidnapped.
The kidnapper, Anne's former betrothed Sir Edwin conspires with Serafina to ruin Lady Katherine in order to destroy her impending marriage to Lord Austin. With the family's reputation thus ruined, Katherine's uncle will surely have no choice but to allow this new marriage.
Katherine proves not to be as compliant as Sir Edwin hopes. Perhaps with the aid of his beautifully sensuous assistant Serafina, Katherine may learn her place and accept his new role for her.
Or perhaps Sir Edwin has misjudged all those around him.
